Who We Are
We believe that music is integral to sound health, happiness, and connection. It's been shown to relieve stress and to reduce anxiety, agitation, and depression, while encouraging a sense of belonging, identity, and creative expression.
In 2019, moved by a deep desire to bring joy and comfort to seniors struggling with loneliness, isolation, and to those living with Dementia, Rick’s Heart Foundation created the Heart for Music program. Bringing the power of music to care homes in our neighborhoods. Heart for Music gifts not-for-profit and remote care homes a donation including: music-playing equipment, customized music playlists, and virtual launch and program support. Creating opportunities for seniors to access familiar music that awakens happy memories and inspires connection.
Together we have provided tools to improve the well-being of thousands of seniors with the help of care staff in hundreds of care homes throughout British Columbia and across Canada.
"When he was listening to music, it brought life back into my father's eyes. He became alert to his surroundings, and the spark in him returned."
~Rick Diamond~
We work with care homes to ensure they have the resources to provide music that is meaningful to their residents. Then care home staff and families work together to curate custom playlists packed with favourite tunes that make an impact and bring a smile to their loved ones faces.
Familiar music is proven to have a positive impact on many people living with forms of Dementia.
